Hey Mamas!
Mama, where is your safe space? In week 2 of the Cultivate Village series, Isabelle and Liz chat with you about the different ways we can heal. Yep, there are multiple!

Tuesday Aug 20, 2024

Hello, friend, and welcome to this episode of the Mother’s Empowerment podcast all about YOU, and how to live an empowered life. I’m calling this episode Reinventing The Self because life is long and we all have many chances to reinvent how we show up.
I know this to be true from my own life experience. And, from working with women from all over the world for the last 15 years, I know I’m not the only one.
What are the roles you currently play?
Well, you might start by saying “mom”, right?!! Or maybe “wife.”

But remember- you were a YOU first- before any of the other roles.
Here’s why this is important…
Most women create their identities around who they love. So, claiming the role of “ME!” means that you love your SELF.
And I cannot imagine a more empowering mindset than self love.

In this episode, Rose and I discuss exactly what that looks like.

About Rose
Rose Wippich is a Holy Fire III/Karuna Reiki Master & Teacher, Yoga and Qigong instructor.  She is also the host & creative energy behind the podcast ‘Chat Off The Mat’ (https://www.rosewippich.com/pages/chat-off-the-mat-podcast).

Like many spiritual warriors, she has faced many challenges, including breast cancer, that have made her aware of the importance of self-compassion and self-care.  Qigong, Yoga, and Reiki have helped her work through challenging life and health situations by providing physical and emotional stability and healing and helping her to maintain a positive attitude.  Her introduction to Reiki began over 25 years ago and has been practicing Reiki for 15. She became a Reiki practitioner to help her twin boys navigate their health journey.  She has since become a Reiki Master so that she can help others become practitioners and spread the amazing benefits of Reiki.

Create Space in your life for Grace
In this episode, you’ll hear how Rose discovered Reiki during a difficult period in her life, when she was dealing with health issues and the loss of her mother. She shares how having a powerful vision during a Reiki session gave her hope and guidance, leading her to eventually become a Reiki master and use it to help her twin sons when they were diagnosed with a medical condition.
Don’t be a Victim. Try This Instead:
So here’s the empowering action I’m inviting you to take today ~ make a decision to BE YOU.  And no one, but you, gets to choose who that is.
The truth is, you only have a limited amount of time on this earth.
And the more authentic you can be, the more likely you’ll be to feel empowered to make “good” choices.
How many times have we made those todo lists that include 17+ things that all serve others and completely leave ourselves off the list? We end up feeling defeated and wonder how everyone else can do this but we can’t.
And, you don’t have to do it alone!!! Rose will be our Mentor on August 26th at 10am PST.

Are you tired of feeling resentful and overwhelmed by motherhood?
Today, I had the absolute pleasure to sit down with best-selling author Tracey Yokas to discuss the importance of knowing who you are, identifying codependency, and dealing with “mental health issues.” Tracey shares her personal journey around mental health and the challenges she had raising a daughter who had many unfixable challenges. We get real and personal as I share my own issues with mental health. This episode is packed with valuable advice for anyone looking to improve their relationship with themselves.

About Tracy:
Tracey Yokas creates stuff. When she isn’t writing about mental health and wellness, she can be found playing with paint, glitter, and glue. She shares about her family’s journey with mental illness so others will know they are not alone. She is dedicated to supporting women in the journey towards authenticity, and fulfills her mission by creating safe spaces where art, words, and vulnerability meet in dynamic community. Tracey earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology from California Lutheran University and lives in Newbury Park, CA, with her family. Have you ever felt like you’re on the brink of burning up in a fit of rage, only to tamp it all down as a way to survive?
If so, Bianca is your gal! Bianca Sprague is a passionate educator and advocate in the doula community, focusing her expertise on supporting women and queer individuals in the fields of fertility, birth, and postpartum care. As a self- identified 'super lesbian' and a dedicated mother, Bianca brings a unique perspective to her work, emphasizing the importance of balancing professional doula responsibilities with personal life, especially for mothers. She is deeply committed to addressing issues like queer care, combating fatphobia in medicine, and exploring women's rage and its implications.
In this episode of The Mother’s Empowerment Podcast, Bianca explains the difference between rage and anger, describing how rage is a more intense emotion that is often suppressed or misdirected due to societal conditioning. She emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and expressing rage in healthy ways, rather than turning it inward or lashing out inappropriately. So important for us mamas! I opened up about the challenges I faced, with rage including my experience, in real time, with my teenage daughter and my own struggles with overwhelm and shame. I also share the incredible success I’ve had around expressing my rage in healthy ways, attributing it to being in community where rage is seen as a superpower. Lastly, I get a little vulnerable and share how tapping into the power of a safe community is important for expansive support around complicated emotions. Listen in to discover how you too can navigate your own way through the underworld of rage so you can feel truly empowered.

Ever wondered how to truly cultivate village?
In this episode of The Mother’s Empowerment Podcast Jake lays it all out for us with the 3 required pillars: consistency, culture, and proximity. We discuss the importance of maintaining collective lives, what to do if one of the pillars is missing, why challenges that come up aren’t “bad”, and why cultivating joy both together and apart is a huge part of culture. I also emphasize the significance of having storytelling, how I have personally been cultivating village in my own life, and the power of fun in keeping relationships vibrant. Tune in for practical advice, tips, and heartfelt reflections on building a thriving community.

Hey mamas!
In this week's episode we start our series on Cultivating Village. Kerry opens up about what village means to her. To join in on Kerry and my conversation on the 28th, head on over to https://app.ruzuku.com/courses/63107/about
As modern-day women, it can be common to feel disconnected: from ourselves and our community. This feeling of disconnect can make it even more difficult to see through the heavy, winter seasons of life to the light on the other side. On today’s episode of the Mother's Empowerment Podcast, Isabelle sits down with Kerry Ingram, founder of Village Tenders, to discuss how to not feel so alone as moms and how we can be the village that many of us long for. If you have been feeling alone, feeling the pull to reroot into your sense of self, or wanting to reconnect with a sense of community, you’ll want to listen in! My heart is broken. I imagine yours is, too.

It can be hard to be present with all the pain and suffering that is happening in the world and in our own homes and lives.

At the same time, I know I came here to fully show up. To root all the way into my body, and into the Earth. To live EMPOWERED.

How do we become more open to love, and the very real pain that comes with it?

How do we act powerfully from our inner knowing, including claiming our pleasure, our rest, and our empowerment?

Inside each cell of our bodies lies a sleeping lotus. Like any seed, it can lie dormant, awaiting the proper conditions to blossom.

The lotus has its roots firmly planted in the mud. So my full hearted invitation to you, dear sister, is to take full responsibility for this one precious life you have been given, and to wake up in this incarnation. To rise up out of the mud.

The above statement is simple (I invite you to read it again, outloud), and takes a lifetime of courage to put into practice. Good thing we have exactly that… a lifetime!

As empowered women and mothers, we are here to accept the mess and limitation of human life, and to know that love is limitless.

The Mother’s Empowerment Show is here to offer you practical tools to help you breathe into that lotus.

It’s time!
